Student Academic Guidelines

Study System & Graduation

  • Credit Hour System: The faculty operates under a credit hour system per semester.
  • Graduation Requirements: To earn a Bachelor’s degree, students must successfully complete 144 credit hours with a minimum Cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.00.
  • Foundation Year: All students complete a shared first-level (Foundation) year. Specialization (Majoring) begins from the second level.

Academic Load (Credit Load)

The number of credit hours you can register for per semester is determined by your GPA:

  • GPA ≥ 3.00: You can register for up to 19 hours.
  • GPA (2.00 to 3.00): You can register for up to 16 hours.
  • GPA < 1.70: The student is placed under “Academic Warning” and is limited to 10 hours  only.

Attendance & Absence Rules

  • Mandatory Attendance: Students must attend at least 75% of the total course hours.
  • Exclusion (Barring): If absences exceed 25% without an acceptable excuse, the student is barred from the final exam and receives a failing grade (F).

Grading System

Course grades (100 total points) are generally distributed as follows:

  • 40% Year Work: (Studio work, research, and quizzes).
  • 20% Midterm Exam.
  • 40% Final Exam.

Academic Advising

An Academic Advisor is assigned to every group of students (maximum 25 students) to assist with:

  • Selecting appropriate courses each semester.
  • Completing Add/Drop procedures.
  • Monitoring academic progress and resolving study-related issues.

Summer Field Training

  • Summer Training is a mandatory requirement for graduation (Pass/Fail) and does not count towards the 144 credit hours.
  • Students must complete at least two training cycles within the faculty or at approved external organizations.
